The second generation of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been revealed globally, sporting revised styling, added technology and it now gets four engine options to choose from. Here’s what is new on the 2024 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe design

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe now gets a revised design, making the four-door sedan look sharper and more aggressive than its predecessor. The double kidney grille design is smaller in size and you get LED headlights as standard, with adaptive LED lights with their glare-free matrix high beam and cornering function being available as an option. The Iconic Glow option which includes the illuminated radiator grille will be available as an option from March 2025. At the rear is an elongated side window graphic, with the embossed number 2 highlighting the Hofmeister kink. The 2 Series Gran Coupe can also be had with the M Sport Package and M Sport Package Pro. The standard wheel size is 17-inches, going up to 18-inches on the sportier M235 xDrive, while 19-inch wheels are an optional extra. The M Sport package also includes adaptive M suspension with lowered suspension. In terms of dimensions, the new generation 2 Series has grown longer by 20mm to 4546mm, while the wheelbase is 2670mm. The width of the car is 1800mm while the height has been increased by 25mm to 1445mm.

The newly designed interiors of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe are claimed to be entirely leather-free as standard, with the Veganza / Alcantara trim being available as an option. You also get a curved screen for the infotainment and instrument cluster, with BMW’s OS 9 with support for OTA updates and a newly designed gear selector. Sports seats are available as an option while M Sports seats are also available – the former getting the option of a massage function, and the latter getting lumbar support. The standard steering wheel can also be changed in favour of an M leather steering wheel. In terms of equipment, you get all the niceties such as a wireless charger, 2-zone automatic climate control, a HUD, a panoramic glass sunroof and a Harman Kardon music system.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe engines

You can have the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe with a choice of four engines – two petrol and two diesels. The M235 xDrive, which is the sportiest version and gets all-wheel-drive is powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine making 296bhp, with 0 to 100kmph coming up in 4.9 seconds. The standard 220 Gran Coupe petrol is also powered by a 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 168bhp of power. When it comes to the diesels, the 220d Gran Coupe produces 161bhp of power, while the 218d produces 148bhp of power. All the engines are mated to a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 220 petrol and the 220d diesel variants of the 2 Series Gran Coupe also get 48-volt mild-hybrid tech for better fuel efficiency.
