Volvo has been a little late to the electric party compared to the Germans, but now we know when and how it plans to attack. The Volvo XC40 Recharge is one of the most awaited electric vehicles in the country, and we’ve got the launch timeline for when the SUV will be revealed.

Bookings for the Volvo XC40 Recharge will begin in July 2022, followed by deliveries that Volvo claims will be made in October. We recently drove the new XC40 Recharge, and you can find the review here, but note that the car we drove is not the car that you will be booking.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge differs from the normal ICE XC40 by way of styling, as it has no grille (as is customary of an EV), some different colour options and 19-inch wheels. It has Recharge branding all around and is longer by 15mm than the ICE version. The interior has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs Google software as well as sustainable faux leather upholstery.

Volvo is launching the facelifted version of the XC40 Recharge in India, and it is this facelift that will be made available for bookings. It includes some mildly tweaked styling, trims and upholstery, and wheels, though the rest of the car remains the same.

The Volvo XC40 is expected to cost around the ₹75 lakh mark, undercutting the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace. A lot of the success of the Volvo depends on its pricing. If Volvo manages to undercut these bigger SUVs by enough, it mind find a lot of takers for the XC40 Recharge!
