Tata Motors has launched the ICE version of the Tata Curvv coupe SUV at an introductory price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With the Curvv, Tata Motors is entering the mid-size SUV segment, aiming to compete with models like the Citroen Basalt, Hyundai Creta, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. The ICE Curvv also debuts Tata Motors' new 1.2-litre Hyperion gasoline direct injection engine, which will be available alongside the 1.2-litre Revotron Petrol and 1.5-litre Kryojet Diesel engines from the Nexon.

Tata Curvv ICE styling

The Tata Curvv is entering the highly competitive midsize SUV segment, with its key differentiator being its coupe-SUV styling. Although the Citroen Basalt was the first coupe SUV in this segment, the Curvv still has a lot to offer. The Curvv is based on Tata Motors' new ATLAS platform for ICE vehicles.

In terms of styling, the Curvv ICE is largely similar to its EV counterpart. At the front, the Curvv ICE features a more conventional grille to meet the cooling requirements of an ICE, paired with the signature connected LED DRL. The Curvv ICE rides on 18-inch wheels, which have a different design compared to those on the Curvv EV. The rest of the profile and silhouette remain the same, with flush door handles and a sloping roofline as key highlights. Both the Curvv ICE and EV offer a substantial 500-litre boot, although the EV includes a frunk, which the ICE does not, for obvious reasons.

Inside, the Curvv ICE mirrors its EV counterpart but features a burgundy interior theme in its top-end variants. It is available in four distinct personas: Accomplished, Creative, Pure, and Smart. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, ESP, and ISOFIX mounts. In terms of tech, the Curvv is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, and a JBL sound system with 9 speakers.

Key comfort features include a gesture-controlled rear tailgate, ventilated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and a cooled glove box. The Curvv also features Level 2 ADAS with 20 functionalities, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, adaptive steering assist, and forward collision warning with auto emergency braking.

The Tata Curvv debuts the Hyperion gasoline direct injection engine, which was indigenously developed. It features a 350 bar fuel injection system, variable geometry turbocharger, sodium-cooled exhaust valves, Miller cycle combustion chamber, hydraulic cam phasing with a central oil control valve, and exhaust after-treatment with a gasoline particulate filter. Tata Motors claims these features improve the engine's performance and responsiveness, with particular attention paid to reducing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). The engine produces a power output of 123bhp and 225Nm of torque.

The Curvv is also available with the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, delivering 118bhp and 170Nm, and the 1.5-litre Kryojet diesel engine, offering 116bhp and 260Nm, both of which are also used in the Nexon. A key differentiator is that all engines are available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, in addition to the standard 6-speed manual
