The exterior of the Ertiga has received minor changes that update the options that are available to customers. There are two new colour options, a silver and a deep red metallic. The interior is where the least changes have taken place. The Ertiga gets wood inserts on the dash and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. It continues with the same 7-inch infotainment system that gets Maruti’s connectivity system with which you can remotely access your car through your smartwatch and operate the AC functions, door lock, headlamps OFF, hazard lights and alarm, among other features.

Maruti Suzuki engines have always been known for their refinement and fuel efficiency, but now the engine has been updated for even more refinement in the biggest change that the Ertiga has received. The 1.5-litre petrol K-series engine continues with a smart hybrid system, but now produces 102bhp and 137Nm of torque, which is down by 1bhp and 1Nm. This is now available with a new 6-speed automatic transmission that is available with paddle shifters for the first time. The AT is only available on the top-spec ZXi+ variant. The updated engine gives out a fuel efficiency figure of 20.30kmpl with the AT, while the MT gives out only a marginally better figure of 20.51kmpl.

The CNG powertrain also gets an update, now producing 86.6bhp and 121.5Nm of torque, both also down by a marginal amount as a compromise to increase the refinement and fuel efficiency. The CNG gives out a fuel efficiency of 26.11 km/kg, and only comes with the manual transmission.

Hisashi Takeuchi, the Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India said, “Ertiga’s launch 10 years ago was a significant moment in the Indian automobile industry, as it created a new segment that has been growing at a CAGR of 4.7 per cent. With a decade-long legacy, the country’s first compact MPV Ertiga has a special place in the Indian automobile industry. The Next-Gen Ertiga with advanced technology features will also come with a new engine and an all-new transmission. As it stays true to its brand vision of providing comfort, technology, and safety features, while being fuel-efficient for customers, the Next-Gen Ertiga will surely continue to be India’s go-to MPV. We are confident that the Next-Gen Ertiga will be widely embraced by our customers.”
