After bringing cosmetic upgrades to the Polo and the Vento in September 2019, Volkswagen India has now launched the BS6 versions of both cars. The BS6 Polo starts at Rs 5.82 lakh while the BS6 Vento comes at a sticker of Rs 8.86 lakh, respectively. Both the cars are now powered by the downsized 1-litre TSI engine while the Polo will also be offered with the 1-litre MPI unit as well.
The BS6 update of the Polo and Vento doesn’t compromise on power though, making them slightly more peppy. The new 1-litre TSI engine makes 108bhp and 175Nm, which is 6bhp more than what the discontinued 1.2-litre TSI unit made. The Vento is also offered with the sole 1.0-litre TSI engine replacing the previous 1.2 litre TSI and 1.6 litre MPI engines.
Both the cars can be had with a 6-speed MT or torque converter AT, bidding adieu to the enthusiast favourite 7-speed DSG. The Polo also gets a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated MPI engine mated to a 6-speed MT, although this engine will only be offered in the Comfortline, Trendline, and Highline+ trims.
For the Indian markets the Polo goes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo whereas the Vento wil face off against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City.
The prices of the BS6 updates of both the hatchback and sedan remain similar to the BS4 models with a slight difference seen amongst the Highline trims.
