The current generation of E-Class has been around for a long time and it hasn’t changed too much, and it is due for a mid life facelift. Mercedes-Benz has ‘teased’ the car in a series of photos and there is even a pretty detailed video online which gives away how the car will look.

By the looks of it the E-Class is set to get a pretty comprehensive update. Most of the changes are in terms of technology and safety systems — like the Active Distance Assist Disctronic that can autonomously drive itself in a traffic jam, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist and the new E-Class can even give you fitness recommendations using algorithms with information from compatible wearables, via the Energizing Coach. Some of these features may not make it to India, but there are notable cosmetic changes that will. On the outside, the headlights are sleeker units making the overall front fascia smoother and feature an LED DRL strip running along the top

The taillights are slightly more disguised, but they appear to be more elongated and sleeker as well. The interior of the E-Class was class leading in terms of luxury already but Mercedes has given it a few minor changes for 2020 — the car now runs the all-new MBUX software that debuted on the facelifted GLC in India which gives the functionality of a voice assistant to do tasks for you. The steering wheel is updated with touchpads and more functionality and with the AMG sport package comes a new three-spoke steering wheel with the horizontal spokes broken up into two, it looks great.

Perhaps as much in love with Porsche 911s as he is with sneakers (and good food), Karan claims his love for cars started before he learnt to speak, even though there is a rumour around the office that he fell asleep while attending his first ever Grand Prix! He likes to find weird quirks about cars and dedicates a fairly large space in his head to random car facts and an equally large space in his heart for cars with cool specs. He came across this career path by chance, and going by how excited he gets as soon as new metal rolls into the office, he seems to be loving everyday of his journey as an automotive journalist.
