Hyundai Motors India Limited has commenced bookings for the 2020 Hyundai i20 prior its launch scheduled for November 5. The carmaker has officially announced the booking price of Rs 21,000 across all official online and offline platforms.
The i20 in its third generation is based on Hyundai’s global design philosophy called ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ which was earlier seen on the new Hyundai Verna as well. On the outside from the pictures, one can see the i20 now gets a lower nose with a hexagonal-shaped blacked-out front grille. It looks like the 2020 Hyundai i20 gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs and turn indicators. Also, the tail lamps are Z-shaped and there is a thin chrome strip running between them on the boot lid. The overall design looks far more aggressive and sharper than before. There’s a distinct lack of chrome up front, and the i20 certainly looks good.
Under the hood, the technical specifications have not been officially revealed but according to Hyundai the all-new i20 will be offered in Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O) variants with BS6 compliant petrol, diesel and turbo-petrol engines. The engines will come either paired to a manual or an IVT, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or an iMT gearbox. Expect the engines to be the same as what is available in the Hyundai Venue.
SS Kim, MD & CEO- Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “i20 has been a super performer brand for Hyundai that has perfectly resonated with the aspirations of modern Indian customers for more than a decade. The all-new i20 is all set to re-establish benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment with its sleek style, thrilling performance and unmatched new technologies.”
The Hyundai i20 in its third generation will be offered in Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night and Metallic Copper colours. The i20 would be available in dual-tone colour schemes of Polar White with blacked-out roof and Fiery Red with a blacked-out roof.
More details about the third-generation Hyundai i20 will be revealed only post its launch on November 5. The Hyundai i20 in India goes up against the likes of Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Volkswagen Polo.
