BMW India has resumed operations in its Chennai plant with 50 per cent workforce from June 1. The safety programme will benefit customers in all BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad dealerships; in terms of fulfilment of spares and deliveries even.

The company has taken steps across its dealer network by ensuring social distancing norms. BMW has remodelled offices, plant and dealership layouts to implement social distancing. They have also ensured the provision of protective gear, hand sanitisers and regular health check-ups of its employees. BMW will also be ensuring highest level of safety at all workstations and periodic sanitisations at regular intervals at offices, production facility, showrooms and workshops will be performed.

BMW, Mini and Motorrad dealerships will be offering personalised services to customers such as complete sanitisation of vehicles at display in showrooms. The company will also hand over new and serviced vehicles to the customers at the location of the customers choice. Every car before delivery will be sanitised. Also, the test-drive vehicles would be sanitised before every test drive and would have a sanitised placed in them. Service engineers will be required to wear personal protective gear before the repair and maintenance of the cars is carried out.

The company has also introduced BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad Hygiene packages at all its dealerships. The hygiene packages will be a combination of high-quality premium care products. The contents of these packages would be optimally tailored to take care of the valuable materials in the car and clean them gently ensuring their longevity. The hygiene package would basically comprise of a full-car care package- to keep the car clean and shiny, an air package- that will ensure better quality air inside the cabin and the interior package- this will ensure the protection of all the car interiors. Also, on the purchase of every BMW Motorrad vehicle, the customer will receive a BMW Motorrad Care kit to ensure safety.

Speaking about the initiative taken by BMW, Mr. Arlindo Teixeira, acting President, BMW Group India, said, “It brings us great joy to finally restart operations at our dealerships, Plant Chennai and corporate office. Customers and prospects can now explore, test-drive and purchase their favourite vehicles in a safe and sanitised environment at our dealerships. We continue to see an increase in demand for the BMW 3 Series, BMW X1 and Mini Countryman. BMW Plant Chennai has restarted production and will be instrumental in fulfilling this market demand for our class-leading sedans and versatile Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs). The introduction of industry-first hygiene packages for BMW, Mini and BMW Motorrad aims at enabling our customers to care for their favourite vehicles from the comfort of their home. With customer-centric initiatives such as Contactless Experience, Extended Care+ and Hygiene Packages, we will remain resolute in our promise to bring joy to our customers at all times.”

The sanitisation packages will be available from June 15 at all its dealerships and will be available for the customers at a special introductory price till July 31.
