TVS unveils RT-XD4 engine at TVS MotoSoul
TVS’ new engine is a 299cc single-cylinder mated to a 6-speed gearbox

TVS has unveiled its next-gen engine platform, called the TVS RT-XD4 at the TVS MotoSoul. This is claimed to be the first in-house designed, developed and engineered performance engine from TVS, and the first engine on this platform will be a 299cc engine named the TVS RT-XD4 300.
The engine platform makes use of four key technologies. The first is dual overhead cams with a downdraft port, to deliver high revs and superior performance. The second is a dual oil pump with a split chamber crankcase to deliver optimum lubrication. A dual cooling jacket cylinder head with water jacket on top and oil jacket below further increases cooling, while a dual breather system effectively prevents oil contamination and reduces oil consumption. Other features of this engine include plasma spray coating, superior thermal / heat management, a high inertia shell bearing crankshaft and a helical gear-driven balancer system.
In terms of the specs, this is a 299.1cc single-cylinder forward-inclined engine producing 34.5bhp of power and 28.5Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes with an assist and slipper clutch. You also get a ride-by-wire throttle system.
TVS claims that this new-gen platform delivers high efficiency, while supporting ethanol-blended fuels, reduced emissions, and enhanced reliability. It remains to be seen what bike TVS puts this engine in but we hope the first product that rolls out with the RT-XD4 300 will be the long-awaited ADV.
