The Royal Enfield Classic – arguably one of the most popular products from the motorcycle maker has now received a bigger engine from the 650 platform motorcycles such as the Interceptor 650 and the Bear 650. The motorcycle has currently been launched in global markets, and will make it to our shores in 2025.

The new Classic 650 continues to play the familiarity card when it comes to the design, but a closer glance will reveal changes on the new motorcycle. The Classic 650 has shorter, sportier fenders which are adapted to the twin motor that is angled forward. You get wider tyres too, while the main frame of the motorcycle is shared with the Super Meteor and the Shotgun 650. 

The Classic 650 gets dual seats, with the option of a pillion seat and rack removal using a single bolt mechanism. You also get a new LED headlamp along with ‘tiger lamps’ or pilot lights. There are four colour schemes on offer with the Classic 650 – namely Teal, Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue and Black Chrome, In terms of equipment, you get an analogue cluster with an inset digital LCD screen that includes an odometer, trip meter, fuel indicator, service reminder, gear position indicator and clock.

Royal Enfield Classic 650 chassis and suspension

The motorcycle is based on a steel tubular spine frame, with Showa telescopic forks up front and a Showa twin shock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by 320mm discs at the front and 300mm discs at the rear, along with a dual-channel ABS. In terms of weight, the bike tips the scales at 243kg making it one heavy machine. 

Royal Enfield Classic 650 engine

Powering the motorcycle is a 648cc parallel twin mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The power output is 46bhp, with 52.3Nm of torque. Royal Enfield claims that the engine is in a fresh state of tune that offers strong low-end acceleration, with the throttle response being calibrated for the unhurried nature of the classic.

Royal Enfield Classic 650 pricing

Royal Enfield has launched the Classic 650 in global markets, with prices starting at £6499 (in the UK). Prices for the Indian market are not out yet, though bookings and test rides of the Classic 650 will begin in January 2025 for our market.
