Ola Roadster electric motorcycle range launched. Prices start from ₹75,000

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the highly anticipated Ola Electric motorcycle(s). Wraps are off Ola’s ‘Roadster’ range which includes three new electric bikes — Roadster Pro, Roadster and Roadster X. Prices start at ₹75,000 and the range-topping Pro model claims 550+km on a single charge. Here's everything that you need to know about these bikes, starting with the most powerful of the lot. In addition to these motorcycles, Ola electric has also showcased a whole host of new hardware and tech updates, at its Sankalp 2024 annual launch event, including a new cell and revealed its new, India's first, Gigafactory. Here's everything you need to know about it.

Ola Roadster Pro

The most powerful electric bike in the Roadster series is dubbed the ‘Roadster Pro’. It's available with two large battery packs — 8kWh and 16kWh — with the bigger unit claiming an IDC-certified 579km of riding range on a single charge. The bike is powered by a magnet-less electric motor which churns out 70bhp and 105Nm of peak torque. Ola says that it's capable of sprinting from 0 to 40kmph in 1.2 seconds and has a top speed of 194kmph.

On the features front, the Roadster Pro sports a 10-inch TFT touchscreen, upside-down front forks, a twin-disc setup at the front and a single disc brake at the rear supported by a dual-channel switchable ABS. It has six riding modes — Hyper, Sport, Normal, Eco and two DIY modes which you can tweak as per to your taste.

With Ola’s upcoming MoveOS 5 update, the Roadster Pro will include features like ADAS, three-level traction control, integrated ride modes (Race, Urban, Rain, Off-road), access controls including geofencing, timefencing, modefencing and Ola's new Krutrim Artificial Intelligence function.

In addition to all this the Roadster Pro also will also have track-focussed features such as Race Mode, anti-wheelie and stoppie modes on the next-gen MoveOS 6. The Roadster Pro 8kWh is priced at ₹1.99 lakh, while the higher 16kWh version demands ₹2.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). Bookings for the Roadster Pro are open now, with deliveries slated for Q4 2026.

Ola Roadster

The Roadster is the mid-spec electric bike of the Roadster range and it gets three battery pack options – 3.5kWh, 4.5kWh and 6kWh. It is propelled by a smaller motor which makes a lot less power than the Roadster Pro, 17bhp, and claims up to 248km of riding range with its biggest battery. The Roadster claims to be the fastest motorcycle in the commuter segment. It is capable of doing the 0 to 40kmph sprint in 2.2 seconds and tops out at 126kmph. It gets four ride modes — Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco and boasts a 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen. This bike features proximity unlock, cruise control, tamper alert and a smartwatch app. It gets a single disc, both at the front and rear, and a single-channel ABS, with sophisticated cornering ABS and brake-by-wire tech.

All three variants of the Roadster are priced at ₹1.05 lakh, ₹1.20 lakh and ₹1.40 lakh, respectively. Delivers for the Roadster will start in Q4 2025.

Ola Roadster X

The smallest and the most affordable motorcycle of the lot is the Roadster X. It gets three battery pack options — 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh and 4.5kWh — priced at ₹75,000, ₹85,000 and ₹1 lakh respectively. The X gets a peak power output of 15bhp and a claimed range of 200km on a single charge. It has a 124kmoh top speed and can do 0 to 40kmph in 2.8 seconds. The motorcycle gets three ride modes — Sports, Normal and Eco — and features a 4.3-inch LCD display, with Ola Maps navigation (turn-by-turn navigation), cruise control and TPMS alerts. The motorcycle comes with digital key unlock and a mobile app for viewing data. Just like the Roadster, deliveries for the Roadster will start in Q4 of 2025.

Ola has confirmed that it will offer an 8-year battery warranty on its entire motorcycle portfolio and in addition to these three new bikes it has also teased two new models — Sportster and Arrowhead. While details are still scarce on these two bike, we know that the Sportster will be a part of the Roadster family, whereas the Arrowhead will be the initial product of the brand's upcoming ‘Sports’ range.

Ola's new 4680 Li-ion cell and Gigafactory

Apart from these three motorcycles Ola has also unveiled its new 4680 Lithium-ion cell dubbed the ‘Bharatcell'. The cell is currently under trial production at Ola’s Gigafactory, which has been built beside its Future Factory near Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu. The Gigafactory is currently capable of producing 5GWh of peak power, but Ola plans to scale it up to 100GWh by 2030.

All future Ola products, including scooters and motorcycles will be powered by the new Bharatcell.

This cell has a longer life with more than 1000 charge cycles, better fast-charging capabilities and a 50 per cent charge guaranteed in 13 minutes. Moreover, it is lighter and has 5x the energy of a traditional 2170 Li-ion cell and also claims to offer 10 per cent longer range.

Ola’s new Gen-3 platform

Ola Electric also showcased its new Gen-3 platform which will use the 4680 cell battery pack as a stress member. This platform is modular and, as a result, also lighter than before which will aid handling and decrease the weight and the cost of scooters and motorcycles which it will underpin. The Gen-3 platform promises a 76 per cent increase in power, a 27 per cent increase in torque and 14 per cent decrease in weight. In addition to the three scooters which Ola currently sells, the Gen-3 platform will also underpin six new scooters which will include two sport, two tourer, one city and one adventure models.

MoveOS 5 update and Krutrim AI

Ola Electric also teased the latest and upcoming iteration of its operating software — the MoveOS 5. With an aim to improve the overall riding experience, the MoveOS 5 will unlock a host of new features including group navigation, live location sharing and a road trip mode powered by Ola Maps. It will also feature performance-enhancing features like 15 per cent faster public charging, TPMS alerts along with voice assistant and predictive insights powered by the brand's new in-house Krutrim AI.

Krutrim is an AI assistant with voice commands and predictive insights. The beta version of the MoveOS 5 and Krutrim AI is all set to roll out in Diwali this year. While the former will be a no-cost option on new Ola scooters from 2026, the Krutrim AI will be a subscription based feature. But, on its roll-out in Diwali, it will be available for a free six-month trial for existing users and a free one year trial for developers.

With its new electric motorcycles, the made-in-India Bharatcell Li-ion cell and tech updates, Ola plans to expand on its already huge electric market share and we can't wait to see how that unfold in the near future.
