KTM 390 Adventure S and 390 Enduro R showcased at India Bike Week 2024
Both the KTM 390 Adventure S and 390 Enduro R share the same engine from the 390 Duke

The KTM 390 Adventure S has been showcased at India Bike Week. This is not the R version that was seen previously at EICMA, and this motorcycle will mostly be the range-topping version in the KTM Adventure lineup when launched in India. Also showcased beside the Adventure S was the KTM 390 Enduro R, which is a more hardcore version of the new-gen 390 Adventure.
KTM 390 Adventure S
The Adventure S is largely similar to the Adventure R, but it has been Indianised to an extent. While the exact specs have not been revealed yet, we can tell you that the Adventure S is significantly lower than the Adventure R and it won’t be as hardcore, with a lower seat height, which should mean that it will appeal to the Indian market better. The seat is also scooped a bit more, making the seat more accessible which will likely improve the ergonomics as well.
Coming to the kit on offer, you do get WP Apex adjustable suspension at the front and rear, a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The motorcycle displayed didn’t have tubeless tyres but we have been told that tubeless tyres with spoked wheels will be available by the time of launch as an option at least.
You have the same screen as the 390 Duke and we can also see the buttons for the cruise control on the bike. In terms of the engine, the Adventure S shares the same engine as the 390 Duke, though the state of tune has not yet been revealed though it is likely that it will make similar amounts of power and torque as the naked bike.
KTM 390 Enduro R
The 390 Enduro R is a hardcore version of the 390 Adventure and it gets a 21-inch wheel at the front, with a more aggressive tread pattern for the tyres than it is on the 390 Adventure. The rear gets an 18-inch wheel and the seat height is also likely to be higher, which should get you more ground clearance.
In terms of the suspension, you get adjustable WP Apex suspension and a new, smaller screen. You also get a switch to directly switch off the rear ABS. The Enduro R will get a smaller fuel tank but the exact specifications of the motorcycle have not yet been revealed. Overall, the Enduro R is a more purpose-built bike than the Adventure S.
When it comes to the engine, the Enduro R too shares the same engine from the 390 Duke, but the state of tune and the power figures have not yet been revealed yet.
With the Adventure S and the Enduro R, KTM has shown that it will widen the appeal of its 390 range, catering to both ADV customers as well as those who want something a little more hardcore to take on the trails.
