Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has further strengthened its reach in the 160cc segment with the launch of the X-Blade BS6, which it has launched in two variants: single disc and dual disc. Prices for the Honda X-Blade BS6 start at Rs 1,05 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the single disc variant. The Honda X-Blade can be had in a choice of four colours (Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Matte Marvel Blue Metallic) , and counts the TVS Apache RTR160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar 160NS and the recently launched Hero Motocorp Xtreme 160R as its rivals.
The big change in the new X-Blade is the inclusion of Honda’s trademark Programmed Fuel injection tech. Also called PGM-Fi, it uses eight onboard sensors to constantly inject optimum fuel and air mixture into the now BS6-compliant version of its tried-and tested 160cc engine, which makes 14bhp and 14.7Nm of torque. The other big change is the inclusion of a rear disc brake, allowing for the safety net of dual-channel ABS. Additionally, the X-Blade BS6 also gets a few new features, such as the engine start/stop switch, and a hazard light flasher for its indicators.
Besides the above, there’s very little (save for the PGM-Fi sticker and the graphics on the fuel tank) to visually distinguish the new X-Blade from its predecessor. It still gets its trademark all-LED headlight (resembling ‘Chappie’) and taillight, fully digital console with gear position indicator and service due warning, telescopic forks up front and rear monoshock, and 17-inch alloys with tubeless tyres.
