The Ducati Scrambler Nightshift, showcased last year is one of the newest additions to the ‘Land of Joy’. The Nightshift is a road-biased bike that has café racer cues in the form of its long flat seat and wide handlebars. It uses what Ducati calls ‘Aviator Grey’ paint finish and the general theme of the bike is dark like the night as the name suggests. It’s powered by the same BS6-compliant 803cc. L-Twin found in the other Scramblers. It outputs 71.8bhp at 8250rpm and 66.2Nm at 5750rpm. In terms of its chassis, it uses the same trellis frame with 41mm Kayaba USDs and a rear preload adjustable Kayaba monoshock. Braking comes courtesy of a single 330mm disc upfront chomped on by a Brembo four-pot radial caliper and a 245mm disc with a single-pot caliper at the back. The bike tips the scales at 196kg (kerb). Other bespoke Nightshift kit includes the café racer style bar end mirrors, side flat track number plate, a sporty mudguard, spoked wheels and the Nightshift branding.

For 2021 along with getting a cleaner engine, the Desert Sled gets a new paint scheme- ‘Sparkling Blue’ as Ducati calls it, a redesigned headlight mesh and a grippier seat. It gets the same engine so power outputs are identical. Where the story is different however is in its chassis. It is by far one of the most versatile bikes in the Scrambler range with the ability to handle tarmac and off-road equally well. The Desert Sled gets fully adjustable 46mm Kayaba USDs upfront, which have a generous 200mm of travel and a preload and adjustable rear Kayaba monoshock. The wheel setup on the Desert Sled is also more committed, with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear shod in Pirelli Rally STR rubber. With all the extra kit, the Desert Sled weighs in heavier at 209kg (kerb). Equipment specific to the Desert Sled include the aluminium handlebar with cross-strut, front stem protectors, ’Sled specific seat, high front mudguard and long rear mudguard.

Commenting on the launches, Bipin Chandra, MD, Ducati India said, “Scrambler is one of the most bohemian and maverick offerings from the house of Ducati. Over the years, our Scrambler customers have taken the road less travelled and have achieved things which is a matter of great pride, not only for them, but for us as well. To introduce more such possibilities, we are delighted to introduce the all-new Scrambler Nightshift and the Desert Sled. The sophisticated design shows the extensive research which has gone behind the two bikes and we surely believe that all riders, new and experienced, will be able to use these motorcycles to challenge their riding skills and fulfill their dreams of owning a Scrambler.”

Customers interested in getting their hands on either one of the bikes can go to their nearest Ducati dealers and book the bikes and can expect delivery soon. 2021 will be an exciting year for Ducati with a bunch of launches lined up and the updated Diavels next in line.
