Aprilia has launched the highly anticipated RS 457 in India at ₹4.1 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets segment leading power figures, a whole host of electronic goodies and will rival the likes of the KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the upcoming Yamaha R3.

Aprilia RS 457 design and features

Aprilia is known for its distinctive styling and the RS 457 doesn't disappoint. It gets an all-LED headlight upfront, with integrated turn signals. Its double front fairing resembles the signature styling of the latest generation of Aprilia bikes. The RS 457 features an aluminium frame with a kerb weight of 175kg. The bike comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels. It is available in three shades – Prismatic dark, Racing stripes and Opalescent light. It gets an 800mm seat height, which is a tad higher than the Yamaha R3 and slightly lower than the KTM RC390.

On the dash, there's a 5-inch TFT display and backlit handlebar controls. The bike sports a ride-by-wire throttle system with three riding modes. It also gets a three-level traction system. Moreover, there's also a quickshifter available as an add-on accessory.

Aprilia RS 457 engine specifications

The Aprilia RS 457, as the name suggests, features a 457cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine with a dual camshaft. This mill is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It produces 47bhp and 44Nm of torque, making it the most powerful bike in its class. In comparison to the Yamaha R3 and the Ninja 400, both of which also employ a twin-cylinder engine, the RS 457 produces 6bhp and 14Nm and 3bhp and 7Nm more. It's also slightly more powerful than the single-cylinder KTM RC390, making 3.5bhp and 7Nm of more power than the Austrian hoot.

Aprilia RS457 price and rivals

The Aprilia RS 457 is very competitively priced at ₹4.1 lakh (ex-showroom). It's only dearer than the KTM RC 390 demanding ₹90,000 more, but rightly so.

What's astonishing is the fact that the Aprilia is a full ₹1.1 lakh more affordable than the Kawasaki Ninja 400. We reckon, that it's also going to be a bargain over the upcoming Yamaha R3, which is expected to cost in the 4-4.5 lakh region, considering that it will be a CBU.
