MV Agusta has taken the wraps off of the 2021 Superveloce and along with that has also revealed a new bike, the Superveloce S. For 2021, the Superveloce has been updated to meet Euro5 emissions regulations, new electronics, tweaks in its chassis and a new colour scheme. Let’s take a closer look at the bikes shall we.
In terms of design, the Superveloce remains identical to the outgoing model. But the standard model does get an all new colour scheme namely the Pearl Metallic Yellow Matt Metallic Graphite, which, as the name suggests, gets a yellow, almost gold like finish where the red would be in the Ago Red Ago Silver finish. The silver bits on the yellow bike are also slightly darker in comparison. Then there’s the Superveloce S, which gets an all-new paint scheme called Surreal White Matt Gold. Apart from the new paint scheme, the Superveloce S also gets tubeless spoked wheels instead of alloys and Alcantara upholstered seats.
The 2021 Superveloce and Superveloce S get a Euro5-compliant 798cc, inline-triple mill that makes 144.8bhp at 13,000rpm and 88Nm at 10,100rpm. New for 2021 is a diamond-like coating on the valve tappet, new titanium valve guides and a redesigned exhaust system, all of which has helped make the engine comply with the more stringent emission norms. The bike also sports larger injectors and a new oil-cooler, in an attempt to increase efficiency.
The 2021 Superveloce uses the same steel tubular trellis frame but with a few tweaks in form of new frame plates which improve chassis stiffness and as a result should improve handling. The Marzocchi 43mm USDs that are adjustable for rebound-compression damping and spring preload (external and separate) have also gotten new settings to improve damping control. The rear suspension is a Sachs monoshock that is rebound and compression damping and spring preload adjustable. Braking on the bikes come courtesy of Brembo monobloc four-piston radially mounted calipers on 320mm discs on the front and a single 220mm disc with a two-pot Brembo caliper at the rear.
The 2021 Superveloce features an overhauled electronics package including a new IMU unit that now bestows the bike with features like cornering ABS, lean sensitive traction control, and a reworked lift control system. Other electronic aids include launch control and a bi-directional quickshifter. All of the new electronics can be controlled by an all-new 5.5-inch full colour TFT instrument console which also allows you to connect your smartphone for navigation functionality.
As mentioned earlier, MV Agusta also showcased a new Superveloce S model which gets a bespoke white paint scheme, spoked wheels and Alcantara leather seats. Apart from this, MV also allows buyers to spec their Superveloce S with a racing kit which adds a pillion seat cowl, an Arrow exhaust system and to accompany the exhaust, a remapped ECU.
The MV Agusta Superveloce and Superveloce S are stellar looking neo-retro motorcycles that are packed to the brim with modern day technology. But, the sad part is that we will probably never see them on our roads ever since MV shut shop in India a couple of years back.
