• The Allspace gets a 2.0-litre TSI engine
• Slight design revisions over the Tiguan
• Packs in third row; can seat seven
• Expected to be launched in less than a month
Volkswagen unveiled the Tiguan AllSpace, the extended wheelbase variant of the Tiguan at Auto Expo 2020. The AllSpace is the SUV closest to launch among the SUVs VW has showcased so far and is expected to hit showrooms soon and bookings are already open.
215mm longer than the Tiguan, the Tiguan AllSpace can accommodate a third row of seats – a feature that is hugely appreciated in India’s SUV market. Under the hood, the Tiguan AllSpace gets a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that is mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission. The SUV could also get Volkswagen's all-wheel drive system.
With the Tiguan AllSpace, Volkswagen plans to take on full-sized SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor and the Skoda Kodiaq. The Tiguan AllSpace is a part of Volkswagen's SUV offensive under the group's 'India 2.0' project. Revisions over the Tiguan include a new grille, revised LED headlamps and a redesigned front bumper.
The Tiguan AllSpace comes equipped with features like touchscreen infotainment, leather seat upholstery, three-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include seven airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
