Bugatti, along with Jacob & Co, has released a 16- cylinder Tourbillon Watch that cost approximately Rs 2.13 crore. This is the second watch to come out of Jacob & Co after they signed an agreement with Bugatti to become their official timekeeper and create these special edition watches. The watchmaker wanted to highlight the beauty of the W16 engine that is at the heart and centre of the Bugatti Chiron.
Let’s get down into the details of this incredible engineering marvel that sits right on your wrist. The watchmakers have managed to fit the entire working 16-cylinder piston engine, complete with crankshaft and moving pistons. In fact, just the engine itself has approximately 578 assembled parts. The engine inside the watch can be manually wound, while the rest of the watch mechanism is powered by a regular movement. On social media, the company released a video of the actual miniaturised engine that sits inside the watch case and it is mesmerising to look at this timepiece in action. The watch also has turbochargers that mimic the real-life hypercar’s engine.
The Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon movement looks to be suspended inside the case with the help of four shock absorbers that look like the car's shocks. The entire watch has a black titanium case to protect the movement inside and it is sealed off with a sapphire crystal. It is also paired with a black rubber strap that goes quite well with the overall look and feel of the watch. Additional details, such as the hands of the watch, are painted in the Chiron’s Signature blue colour. The whole design has been patented by the manufacturer. The party piece of this watch has to be when you set it to fire on all 16 cylinders.
