The latest generation of Porsche 911 range hit our streets more than a year ago but the launch was restricted to two variants, the Carrera S and the Carrera S Cabriolet at Rs 1.83 crore (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) respectively. Porsche enthusiasts and customers have been waiting for Porsche to expand the 911 lineup in India with the introduction of the new 911 Turbo S. While a formal launch date is yet to be announced, the model has been listed on Porsche India’s official webpage and you can configure your Porsche 911 just for fun - us at evo India have often found ourselves spending way too much time fiddling with the configurator to create the 911 of our dreams. But there is something out of the ordinary here. Selecting the 911 Turbo S variant for configuration reveals the exact price.

In the configurator, the listed Porsche 911 Turbo S price in India is Rs 3.08 crore (ex-showroom). Fiddling with the configurator even further, we could add optional extras to take the price close to Rs. 4 crore. Although there were murmurs of a possible launch sometime around now, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the resultant lockdown must have forced Porsche to put the launch on the back burner for now.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine with two VTG (variable turbine geometry) turbochargers helping produce 641bhp, up by 69bhp over the 991.2 gen model and a peak torque of a colossal 800Nm, an increase of a substantial 50Nm. It is paired with an eight-speed PDK and can do the 0 to 100kmph sprint in just 2.7s, 0.2s quicker than the older 911 Turbo S. Like all Porsches though, we expect it to be considerably quicker than Porsche's claimed figures. 0-200kmph is dealt with in just 8.9 seconds, a full second quicker than its predecessor before going on to reach a top speed of 330kmph.

Design changes are subtle, as with all new generations of 911s but it does get new LED headlights and a full width rear light bar. The rear wing too has been reworked for added downforce along with the front spoiler ducts. The 911 Turbo S is now 20mm wider and boasts of increased front and rear trackwidth by 42mm and 10mm respectively. The 992-gen Porsche 911 Turbo S rides on 255/35 section 20-inch tyres in the front and 315/30 section 21-inch tyres for the rear.

Porsche’s configurator also lists prices for the unlaunched entry-level 911 Carrera and Carrera Cabriolet variants as well and they are priced at Rs 1.63 crore and Rs 1.79 crore respectively (both prices ex-showroom).
