Honda Cars India Limited has achieved a milestone with the WR-V in the country, as they have sold a cumulative 50,000 units of the vehicle in the first year itself.

The WR-V was launched in the country in March last year and it picked up sales quickly, thanks to its upmarket looks and premium feel. The WR-V has contributed a hefty 28 per cent to sales figures of Honda for the financial year 2017-18. Apart from India, the WR-V is also sold in Brazil too. The vehicle is available in three variants in both petrol and diesel trims including the ‘Edge’ edition which was launched recently.  Honda says that the top-of-the-line VX variant accounts for 80 per cent among the total three variants available.

The car is available in both petrol and diesel powertrains. The WR-V in its diesel avatar is gaining quite a bit of popularity as it contributes 58 per cent, while the petrol accounts for 42 per cent of sales. North India has contributed 30 per cent of sales while the western part has 28 per cent, followed by South India and East India at 27 and 15 per cent. The car is more popular in tier-I cities, followed by tier-III and tier-II cities.

On the success of the Honda WR-V,  Yoichiro Ueno, president and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “This is a very proud moment for us. Honda WR-V has witnessed great success in the Indian market and the 50,000 sales milestone validates its strong presence. It has emerged as a strong volume model in Honda’s model line-up striking the right chord among young urban customers who are looking for status, comfort and have an active lifestyle.”
