Jeep has launched the updated Jeep Compass and now it starts at Rs 20.39 lakh, which is over a lakh more affordable than before. There’s a new special edition called the BlackShark and a new drivetrain option as well where you can have the 9-speed automatic transmission in a 4x2 configuration. The Compass now offers wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof in the middle trims as well.
The exterior hasn’t had much change, save for the redesigned front grille and the 18-inch alloy wheels. The door sill has also been updated. Available exterior colours include white, black, green, red, blue and two varying shades of grey. Wireless charging and the sunroof are more accessible in the 2024 Compass as they are now available in middle trims as well.
Jeep has also unveiled a new limited edition variant called BlackShark. It gets a body-coloured painted roof and lower cladding, 18-inch black wheels, black seats and red highlights in the interior.
The 2024 Compass gets re-tuned fully independent suspension which Jeep claims has made it more suitable for on-road driving. The dampers have also seen updates to increase the overall ride quality and handling.
The powertrain remains the same and you get the 2.0-litre diesel as the sole engine option. The engine is good for 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed auto gearbox.
The 2024 Jeep Compass lineup consists of five variants: Sport, Longitude/Longitude Plus, Limited, BlackShark, and Model S. Jeep has added an option of getting the 9-speed auto in the 4x2 configuration making the auto transmission significantly more accessible. Previously Jeep used to offer only the manual transmission in the 4x2 configuration and automatic in the more expensive 4x4 configuration.
The prices have been revised and the entire range is now more affordable as the MT variants now start at Rs 20.49 lakhs (Rs 1.24 lakh less). The new 4x2 auto trim starts at Rs 23.99 lakh which makes the automatic transmission more affordable by Rs 5.85 lakh. Competitors are aplenty for the Compass as it now sits in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment and they include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Citroen C3 Aircross and more.
