2024 Jawa 42 launched at Rs 1.73 lakh, gets a new engine and variant

The new Jawa 42 has been launched at Rs 1.73 lakh with a new J-Panther engine making 26.9bhp and 26.8Nm of torque. More importantly, it gets improved airflow and gear mapping for each gear as seen on the new Yezdi Adventure. It also gets a new spoked wheel variant with single-channel ABS. Additionally, it gets a digital speedometer and USB charging as part of the upgrade. 

Jawa 42 design and features

The design remains the same for the Jawa 42 save for the addition of a new seat and a digital cluster. It now comes in 14 colour options, including six new for 2024, offering both matte and gloss options. Upgrades include a digital speedometer and a new seat. Although, the digital speedometer will only be available with the top-end variant featuring alloy wheels. 

Jawa 42 chassis and powertrain

It is powered by a new 294cc J-Panther liquid-cooled engine, which delivers 26.9bhp of power and 26.8Nm of torque. Although displacement is the same, it gets new engine components. The engine gets a larger throttle body, and a cylinder head for improved performance. Gear-based throttle mapping and an assist and slip clutch have been introduced as well. The air-cooling has also been optimised. With these updates, the brand is claiming improved refinement and durability. The gearing of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears has been optimised for better drivability.

The motorcycle’s chassis has been optimised with a redesigned balancer weight and a new hub-type balancer gear, which work together to reduce vibrations and improve riding comfort.

Jawa 42 variants and price

The 2024 Jawa 42 is available in multiple variants, each offering a different combination of features, including the choice between single-channel and dual-channel ABS, as well as spoke or alloy wheels. A new variant with spoked wheels and single-channel ABS has reduced the starting price to Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The range tops out at Rs 1.98 lakh.
