Factory rally and race teams are constantly evolving and so are the machines. They are churning out more modern cars and prepping them for what motorsport terror lies ahead. Still waiting to know what the other machine Team Maruti Suzuki will bring to the 2018 Dakshin Dare? Keep reading.
Remember the Vitara Brezza that they piloted for the Desert Storm rally this year? Yes it’s the same car! We answer the age old question “how will these front-wheel drive vehicles tackle sandy stages?” This particular car was prepped by N. Leelakrishnan, the legendary tuner running under the banner of Arka Motorsports. Just like the S-Cross, the Vitara Brezza was fitted with an all-grip (AWD) hardware. This kit can be sourced and is an easy fit thanks to the ready mounting available even on the 2WD cars that we are blessed with.
The ALL-GRIP system monitors the difference in front and rear wheel spin and when a large difference is detected, it engages the clutch and sends drive to the rear wheels. What Leela has done is modify the software controlling the AWD system and it now runs a separate Race Dyamics ECU with custom coding. Each of the modes now sends a pre-determined amount of torque to the rear wheels, which the driver calls upon depending on the stage condition.
Both the cars enter the T1 class of the Dakshin Dare which is a 4WD category. The Vitara Brezza will have the assistance of the Maruti Suzuki R&D Team and will be piloted by Dharampal Jangra and Chandrashekar Rana.
Watch out for both these machines at south India’s biggest cross-country rally, the Dakshin Dare!
