Although India is the largest two-wheeler market in the world, we have not seen a very successful Indian rider in the very top echelons of international motorsport in recent years. However, that may soon change. Pune boy Sarthak Chavan made history by becoming the first Indian to secure a podium finish in round 2 of the 2022 Thailand Talent Cup, one of the most notable junior motorcycle racing series’ in the world. At the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, starting from a grid position of P12, the young Indian racer took advantage of treacherous wet conditions to overtake many riders and finish in P3, finishing only 0.5 seconds off the winner.

His teammate, Chennai’s Kavin Quintal too made good on his pace, as he started from second-last in p15 and made a rapid rise up through the grid, overtaking five riders on the first lap! He eventually finished in the points in P9. With this, Honda Racing India got their first double points finish of the season.

This win has boosted my confidence and I will continue to fight hard to bring more laurels for the country.”

Honda Racing India is hoping to nurture India’s next big racing hope, in the motorcycle category. Its participation in the Thailand Talent Cup with Sarthak Chavan and Kavin Quintal comes after their remarkable performances in the Honda India talent Cup.
