To provide you with some context, supercross is a variant of motocross that involves off-road motorcycle racing on a constructed dirt track consisting of steep jumps and obstacles. The tracks for these events are usually constructed in a stadium, but there has never been an organized racing league dedicated to supercross in India. That has changed with the Supercross Racing League.

This will be the first-ever league dedicated to supercross in India, organised by Supercross India Pvt Ltd (SXI), and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) granting exclusive rights for this event was handed over by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), which is the governing body for motorsport, in Pune today.

While there’s no information yet regarding the season calendar or the competing classes which will be present in the league, the Supercross Racing League will also welcome global participants. Commenting on the occasion, Gautam Shantappa, Vice President of FMSCI said, “ The Federation fully backs the SXI team and it firmly believes that they would take the sport to a new level. We would work as a team to make this event a huge success.” Sujit Kumar, Chairman of FMSCI added to that by saying, “It is great to see ex-racers coming back to the sport, playing different roles,” referring to the promoters of the League, Veer Patel, Eeshan Lokhande and Aashwin Lokhande, who have heavily been involved in racing and organising supercross events in India over the years.

With the announcement of the Indian Supercross League, motorsport in the country will surely get even more exciting – especially for those who love to see the action on two wheels. We cannot wait to witness it live!
