The Dakar Rally 2023 in Saudi Arabia is the seventh consecutive outing for Hero MotoSport Team Rally, and the team has earned a podium finish in Stage 2 with Sebastian Buhler finishing in second place. This was also Buhler’s first-ever stage podium in his Dakar career. His teammate Ross Branch followed behind closely, finishing the Stage in fourth position. Franco Caimi finished Stage 2 in 14th place, while Joaquim “J-Rod” Rodrigues finished in 20th place in the Rally GP class.
Stage 2 of the Dakar Rally 2023 consisted mainly of rocky sections, with the long and dangerous section posing a big challenge to the Hero MotoSports team riders. While still recovering from his crashes in Stage 1, Ross Branch put in every effort to ride steadily, and his top 5 finish places him in 12th place in the overall rankings table. A consistent performance by Franco Caimi early on in the race meant that he is currently at 16th place in the overall rankings table. Stage 2 wasn’t too kind to J-Rod, with a broken fuel tank resulting in him having to run almost 250km with limited fuel along with a faulty clutch cable. Despite that however, the strong-willed J-Rod brought his Hero 450 Rally to the finish line, maintaining 17th place in the overall Rally GP Class Standings.
