After a fairly long gap between races, we’re finally heading to Rome for rounds four and five of the FIA Formula E season. People keep asking if we’ve enjoyed the downtime but, to be honest, there hasn’t been any. Formula E is extremely competitive and, while you’re resting, others keep moving forward. So, as soon as we returned from Mexico City, we began evaluating our first three rounds to see where we could improve.

We’ve spent a lot of time on the simulator at the Mahindra Racing factory in Banbury, UK to get a good set-up and to test and develop some new software. The current generation of Formula E car is on its final season so we are all at the point of fine tuning to extract the maximum performance out of the car, however small these gains may be.

After several weeks of hard work, we’re all feeling positive ahead of Rome. It’s a track where Mahindra have had success – Alex took a second-place finish there last year – and where I, personally, was very strong, albeit with another team. The track itself is awesome. It has elevation, high-speed corners and some tricky braking zones. It’s really exhilarating to drive, fantastic to watch and is in an epic location.

So, I head to Rome feeling good and confident that the team is ready for the challenge. Mahindra Racing is a new team for me, so there has been a period of getting to know everyone, but I’m delighted that we go into Rome fully bonded and united with one goal – to take maximum points.

Keep an eye on the Mahindra Racing social channels to follow our performance over the weekend and to see exclusive and behind the scenes content. You can also Fanboost me, which gives me an extra boost of power during the race. You can find out all the information on how to do this at the Formula E website here.
