Having a Formula E race in Brazil was nothing short of amazing. It was such a pleasure to race in front of my friends, family and home fans that have been supporting me during my whole career. It was a very busy weekend though, with lots of off-track commitments, which made it one of the toughest events of my career.
The race weekend itself was a bit of a let-down. I made a mistake during qualifying which put me right at the back of the grid, making it a hard battle forwards throughout the race. Unfortunately, we just don’t currently have the pace to match our competitors, but I think I did the best job I could with the package we have to make it up to 13th by the chequered flag. Of course, that wasn’t the target for my home race, or for the team. It was a shame as the pace at the start of the weekend was looking promising.
Now (after I have caught up on some sleep!) we move onto Berlin. The race at Tempelhof is a Formula E classic (remember the six-race event in Season 6?!) and I’m looking forward to returning to the track. I’ve won there twice before but as a team we will need to get everything right to score points. But we don’t give up and we will work harder than ever to secure the best result possible.
