Formula E is setting its horizons wider with the announcement of Riyadh as one of the venues for the electric racing series. They will be hosting the opening round of season 5 of the Formula E championship. When the Gen2 cars make their international debut it will be an historic event.  announcement was made by the founder and CEO of Formula E Alejandro Agag and the royal princes of Saudi Arabia – Prince Khaled Bin Sultan Bin Abdullah AlFaisal, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki AlFaisal Al Saud and the vice-chair of the Saudi Arabia general sports authority. This is part of a 10-year agreement. Between Formula E, the General Sports Authority and Saudi Arabian Motor Federation. The confirmation from the FIA World Motor Sport Council is still pending and once the green light is given, the race cars will be seen racing each other through the streets in the outskirts of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The location and layout of circuit will be revealed later.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki AlFaisal Al Saud is the Vice-Chair of the Saudi Arabia General Sports Authority. He said, “Saudi Arabia is looking to the future and Formula E is the motorsport of the future. That’s why this is such an exciting opportunity. It aligns perfectly with the country’s 2030 vision. It offers the prospect of world-class racing on the streets of the capital for the first time in our history.”
