Team Maruti Suzuki drivers made a strong attempt to take a lead at the first round of the Dakshin Dare. The first round Maruti Suzuki Motorsports entered the rally with four teams that had to cover a total of 45 km. Defending champion Suresh Rana along with co-driver Chirag Thakur tried to put in the best effort to finish in the top three. However, Rana picked up two punctures half-way into the first stage of the rally losing almost 7 minutes to the finish. Rana and Thakur managed to hustle their mighty Grand Vitara for a fourth place finish despite the incident, proving that he is the one to watch out for during the weeks stages.
Sandeep Sharma along with co-driver Anmol Rampal was piloting the front-wheel-drive Vitara Brezza in T2 class for its first rally outing. Samrat Yadav pushed quite well for the first two stages, but unfortunately he too picked up a puncture during the third stage in yesterdays round.
