The 2021 MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) took place between August 20 to August 21 at the MMRT circuit where over a hundred participants raced in 19 races.. The championship also saw the participation of 17 private teams this year. Honda organised their Honda India Talent Cup, which showcased their Moto3-spec NSF 250R ridden by a clutch of talented teenagers, all under the age of 19. Honda’s Hornet 2.0 saw action for the first time as a support event. TVS continues the Open-class Apache RR 310 one-make championship, while the RTR 200 One Make Races included classes for Novices, Girls and Media. With that said, let’s look at what went down at the 2021 Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC).

In the Pro-Stock 301-400cc National Championship, Rajini Krishnan (RACR Castrol Power Racing) took victories in both the races and stamped his class in the premium category. Rajni, despite having a poor start in race one, carved through the field from P7 and eventually won comfortably ahead of Hyderabad’s Rahil Shetty (Gusto Racing) and Bengaluru-based Anish Damodara Shetty (Race Concepts).

The two races of the Pro-Stock 165cc Open class were won by nine-time National title winner, Jagan Kumar (TVS Racing). He dominated in race one but in race two, he was chased closely by fellow rider Rajiv Sethu (Idemitsu Honda SK69 Racing) throughout the eight laps but managed to keep him behind at the checkered flag. After race one, Jagan said, “The bike was just brilliant today. I really pushed in the early part of the race and, in the end, it was fairly comfortable,”.

Amidst all this, Alwin Sundar of AS Motorsports won both the races of the Novice Stock 165cc category. He outclassed the competitors with yet another ride in a race filled with multiple crashes. Jinendra Kiran Sangave, a private entrant from Kolhapur, was the youngest participant of the championship at the age of 12.

Chennai rider, Ryhana Bee (RACR Castrol Power Racing) returned to racing after a year’s gap and came victorious in the Girls Stock 165cc race. The victory at the five-lap race fell in her lap after defending champion Ann Jennifer (Sparks Racing) and Lani Zena Fernandez (Speed Up Racing) got tangled and crashed in the third lap. From there onwards, Ryhana overtook Baddam Deepika Reddy (Gusto Racing, Hyderabad) and Jagruthi Kiran (Sparks Racing, Mumbai) and won the race.

16-year old Kavin Quintal from Chennai ended up winning both the races of the NSF 250R class of the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup. In race one, he had to fend off attacks from defending champion 14-year old Sartak Chavan (Pune) who crashed in the fourth lap when hotly challenging for the lead.

Kolhapur’s Jinendra Kiran Sangave, also won both the races in the Rookie category of the TVS One-Make Championship. TVS Apache RR 310 Open race one was won by Kerala origin rider Amarnath Menon while the second race was won by Yashas RL of Bengaluru. Kevin Kannan of Chennai came home victorious in both the races of the Honda Hornet 2.0 category.

This was the first round of the 2021 MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) came to an end after a thrilling weekend of racing.
