Entries open for the 2018-19 season of Asian Le Mans endurance racing series

Asian Le Mans – the gateway to the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The Asian Le Mans series is widely considered as the stepping stone to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the oldest sports car endurance racing series, where prototype and GT cars take part to get the top honours. The Asian endurance racing series will have four rounds this season. The Shanghai International Circuit in China will host the season opener. The series will end in February 2019 at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.  It also presents a unique opportunity for the winners of the LMP2, LMP3, the amateur LMP2 series and the GT Cup Class to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The winners of the LMP2 and LMP3 class will be competing in the LMP2 class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while the winner of the GT class will get a chance to compete in the LM GTE-Am class.

2018-19 Asian Le Mans categories

There are totally four categories – LMP2, LMP3, GT class and the GT Cup Class. The LMP2 class will be open to both professional and amateur drivers. The GT class will feature both GT3 cars and Japan GT300 cars. A separate LM GTE class will be created if there are four GTE cars for the entire season. The GT Cup Class will be open for various cars that are homologated for various one make series like Audi R8 LMS Cup, Ferrari Challenge, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Porsche Carrera Cup. The GT Cup Class is for amateur drivers only.
