Asian Le Mans – the gateway to the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The Asian Le Mans series is widely considered as the stepping stone to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the oldest sports car endurance racing series, where prototype and GT cars take part to get the top honours. The Asian endurance racing series will have four rounds this season. The Shanghai International Circuit in China will host the season opener. The series will end in February 2019 at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.  It also presents a unique opportunity for the winners of the LMP2, LMP3, the amateur LMP2 series and the GT Cup Class to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The winners of the LMP2 and LMP3 class will be competing in the LMP2 class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while the winner of the GT class will get a chance to compete in the LM GTE-Am class.

Cyrille Taesch Wahlen on the 2018-19 Asian Le Mans

Cyrille Taesch Wahlen, Asian Le Mans Series Managing Director said, “The 2017/18 Season saw record exposure for all those involved in the Asian Le Mans Series. For 2018/19 we are expecting this to generate even greater coverage making the Series even more attractive to our stakeholders.  With an improved entry package that includes lower entry fees, especially for those who commit prior to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, combined with the increased recognition of amateur drivers and impressive broadcast package, gives us a strong base to further strengthen the Asian Le Mans Series for Prototypes and GT categories and cement its place as the premier endurance racing series is Asia.”
