Round one of the MRF FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded at the MMRT yesterday with Race Concepts’ Anish Damodar Shetty sweeping a hat-trick of wins in the Premier Pro Stock 301-400cc class. Meanwhile, multiple national champion Jagan Kumar from TVS Racing and Eneos Honda Erula Racing’s Mathana Kumar garnered victories in the two Pro-Stock 165cc class races.
In the Pro-Stock 301-400cc class, 26-year-old Shetty appeared unstoppable, and pretty much dominated his class throughout the weekend. In the same class, Jagan Kumar and veteran Rajini Krishnan from RACR Cast Power Racing showcased blistering performance as they finished third and fourth after starting 26th and 24th on the grid. In the Pro-Stock 165cc class, Jagan Kumar added more trophies to his collection by bagging a comeback victory after starting 12th on the grid alongside another podium finish in the final race on Sunday.
In the Idemitsu Honda Talent Cup organised by Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), Pune’s 14-year-old hotshot Sarthak Chavan claimed victory in both the races ahead of Chennai’s Kevin Quintal and Varoon Sadasivam. It’s worth noting that this age group was between 14-18 years, and yet they rode like seasoned champions aboard their Honda NSF250R, the former Moto 3-spec motorcycle that despite looking tiny compared to other motorcycles appeared to be the fastest across the MMRT.
Unlike last year, there will be racing action on back-to-back weekends as organizers try to make up for the lost time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Round two of the INMRC 2020 commences on Friday, November 18.
