Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd aims to bring electric vehicles on Indian roads by 2020. And to achieve that, they have started a nation-wide fleet testing of their EVs on Indian roads.
The company has started the testing of these electric vehicles to gather critical inputs based on customer perspectives. According to the company, there’s a need for extensive real-life testing of these battery-run vehicles to help their validation and development. And the ultimate aim of this exercise is to build reliable and suitable electric vehicles for the Indian car market, of which more than 50% of the share belongs to Maruti Suzuki.
These prototypes are being developed in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan who has provided their existing EV platforms for testing in India. And these existing models are being manufactured at Maruti Suzuki Gurugram Plant, exclusively for fleet testing.
