Jaguar has announced a new variant of its hardcore track-focussed XE SV Project 8, and have set it up better for the road. Mechanically, the Project 8 remains identical, however, it gets a new rear wing and a lower top speed. The idea is to make the bonkers performance sedan a little more discreet for road use. It will be limited to 15 units worldwide, making it rather exclusive too.

The Touring spec version of the car ditches the adjustable carbonfibre aerodynamic wing and now has a lip-spoiler that is far more discreet. Jaguar claims that the car will continue to handle just as well and stay stable at higher speeds despite the removal of larger spoiler. The top-speed, however, has now been restricted to 300kmph which is 20kmph lower than the regular Project 8.

Powering the car is the same 5-litre supercharged V8 which puts down 592bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. Acceleration figures stay the same with the car touching the 100kmph mark in a mere 3.7 seconds.  The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is credited with being the fastest production sedan car across 3 continents and hold records at tracks like the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Dubai Autodrome and Laguna Seca.

Jamal Hameedi, engineering director at Jaguar special vehicle operations said “Project 8 has received outstanding critical acclaim since its launch, demonstrating the Special Vehicle Operations team’s ability to create a compact Jaguar sedan with supercar-rivalling performance. Touring specification extends the appeal of Project 8 to performance car enthusiasts and collectors who prefer a more discreet appearance, without compromising its driver-focused on-road dynamics.”

Jaguar also said that the Project 8 is still available in two or four seat variants with the track specification. The touring spec variant of the car will be available at no extra cost. It comes in four signature Project 8 colour schemes 2 of which will be British racing green and Corris grey stain.
