Honda has finally launched their neo-retro CB300R in India after opening pre-bookings last month for Rs 5000, at Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). The bike got a great response during the pre-booking stage, and is already sold out for three months. Deliveries will commence in the third week of March. The motorcycle will be available only from Honda Wing World dealers.
The CB300R is powered by a liquid-cooled 286cc single cylinder engine producing 31 bhp and 27.4Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed transmission, the same as the international model. Taking design cues from the CB1000R, the CB300R gets a round LED headlamp with a horseshoe-shaped LED DRL unit. The tail light is the thinnest ever mounted on a Honda motorcycle. The CB300R is also the lightest in the segment at , offering the best-in-class torque to power ratio. Honda says the exhaust note of the bike will be powerful and aggressive due to a 2-room structure for the interior of the end can.
Honda has equipped the bike with some serious tech like ABS with G-Sensor and an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), which gives a precise front to rear distribution of the ABS depending on the vehicle posture controlling the roll, pitch and yaw of the motorcycle. Honda says that this keeps the rider in complete control, even during sudden brake application. Suspension duties are carried out by USD forks up front and a 5-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. A 296mm disc up front operated by radially mounted 4-pot calipers and a 220mm disc operated by a single pot caliper at the rear is used for shedding speed.
Speaking on the company’s plan for the premium bike segment, Minoru Kato, president and CEO, Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Pvt Ltd said, “ In 2018, Honda made a commitment of unleashing excitement in a new category. Now, we fulfil our commitment yet again with this iconic offering in the middle-weight segment of Neo Sports Café family. With a legacy spanning four continents, CB300R is the great introduction for new riders towards brand Honda’s engineering prowess, design philosophy and high build quality.”
