Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has introduced an all new compact car design language in the form of #ConceptFutureS at the expo. The concept is the first to be completely designed in-house by Maruti and shows the direction the company plans to go in the future. The uniquely styled compact car that has SUV like characters aims to delight customers in the compact car space. MSIL plans to create its own market positioning beyond conventional proportions. The design will mark a big shift in the way compact cars are designed in India.

Unveiling ConceptFutureS, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Compact is the natural choice of India’s car customers. Compact needs a fresh design language, one that is bold, confident and dynamic. Our designers have created this brand new design, aggressive on the outside, and bold and inviting interiors. Nothing like this has ever been attempted before on a vehicle this size. ConceptFutureS will define the next generation of design for compact vehicles in India”.

In terms of design, the Concept Future S is uniquely styled sporting the size of a compact car, but the butch looks of an SUV. The company says managing SUV characters in compact proportions was a task for the designers. But they have successfully achieved it. The sleek lamps enclosed in the hood give the vehicle an imposing character.

On the inside, ivory white has been used  along with orange that looks bright with the main focus on the central infotainment cluster. While the Concept Future S is still a concept on this stage, we think that it will evolve into the next entry-level hatchback from the Indian automaker and will take on the likes of the Kwid which in terms of a design standpoint has had the market all to itself for the last few years.
