Aston Martin has added an AMR variant to the DB11 at the inauguration ceremony of its Aston Martin Racing (AMR) Performance Centre in Nürburgring.
Under the bonnet of the DB11 AMR is the same twin turbo 5.2-litre V12 engine, but it produces 30 more horses at 630bhp. Transmission is via a rear mounted 8-speed automatic gearbox with LSD, sending power to the rear wheels. Torque remains the same at 700Nm. The DB11 AMR does the 100kmph sprint in just 3.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the regular DB11. The car hits a top speed of 335kmph, making it the fastest Aston Martin in production, right now. Work has gone on to make the exhausts sing a different tune, to go with the AMR badge.
To differentiate between the regular DB11 and the AMR variant, it has been given a thin lime green strip that runs along the sides, lower lip of the front spoiler and the rear as well. The bonnet also sports a thick lime green (same shade seen on the V8 Vantage) strip. You also get smoked headlamps and tail lamps giving it an aggressive look, along with the all black grille and a blacked-out rear bumper. The brake calipers get the lime green treatment as well, completing the look.
On the inside, the seats and centre console get lime green stitching along with AMR badging on the headrests. A carbon-fibre sports steering wheel and paddeshifters are also available as an option. Optional exterior add-ons include carbon-fibre engine cover, exhaust tips and a deployable spoiler.
At the unveiling of the DB11 AMR, Andy Palmer, the president and chief executive officer of Aston Martin said, “Since its initial launch back in 2016 the DB11 range has matured rapidly and intelligently, selling close to 4,200 V12 examples in that period. With the exceptional V8 Coupe and Volante we felt the V12 could reveal more of its sporting potential, while remaining the consummate GT. By applying a suite of carefully considered performance and styling enhancements the DB11 AMR is both faster – 208mph! – and more precise. It’s a combination that engages and cossets in equal measure to create a dynamic and seductive new flagship for the DB11 range, while consolidating the existing V12-powered DB11s as future collectibles.”
The supercar is available in three designer trims and an additional AMR signature edition. The AMR Signature edition is limited to 100 units only. Currently, the car is on sale in the USA, UK and Germany. First deliveries are set to begin by the second quarter of 2018.
