The BMW M2 Competition was one of our favourite cars for the year. So, when we heard BMW is making an even angrier version, we were intrigued and after seeing the final product, we can't stop drooling. The M2 CS (Clubsport) makes around 40bhp more than the Competition (almost as much as the M3). The CS is lighter too, thanks to the extensive use of carbonfibre. There is a new unique exhaust system with controllable valves and adaptive M suspension as standard.

What makes the Clubsport a Clubsport?

The M2 CS makes 437bhp of power and 550Nm of torque from the same S55 3-liter twin-turbo inline-six as the M2 Competition. The M2 CS also gets a unique dual branch exhaust system with controllable valves incase you want to leave your neighbourhood quietly. To keep your cornering with the grace of a ballerina the M2 CS gets the adaptive M suspension as standard for the first time. BMW has kept the M2 CS’ diet very strict, although there are no official weight figures yet there is a generous dose of carbon fibre on the hood, roof, front splitter, rear spoiler, rear diffuser and door mirrors and even the centre transmission tunnel console. To give some perspective of how much weight carbon fibre saves, the carbon hood in the CS weighs half that of a standard steel part. All this means the M2 CS can sprint to 100 in 3.8 seconds with the seven-speed dual clutch ‘box and 4 seconds flat with the six-speed manual.

Only 2200 units of the M2 CS will be produced worldwide. They will surely sell like hot cakes judging by the BMW M chief, Markus Flasch, comments saying the car is "phenomenal and drives like a race car with license plates," He also added that it will be "the most crisp and pure BMW M model that we have launched in quite some time." That's coming from the horses mouth!
