Ultraviolette has taken the wraps off the F99 factory racing platform at EICMA 2023 and it has evolved drastically from what we saw in the 2023 Auto Expo avatar. According to the Indian automaker, the motorcycle has been in the works for two years. The F99 will be built for racing first and then will make its way to a street-spec iteration.

Ultraviolette F99 chassis

The Ultraviolette F99 Factory Racing Platform features an aluminium frame with a machined swing arm, carbon fibre bodywork, a wheelbase of 1400mm, a height of 1050mm, and a kerb weight of just 178kg (as opposed to the 205kg kerb weight of the F77). The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli racing slicks. Braking hardware comes courtesy of Brembo and suspension duties are carried out by Ohlins.

Ultraviolette F99 aerodynamics

The F99 Factory Racing Platform features an innovative active aerodynamics system inspired by supersonic fighter jet principles, according to the manufacturer. This system is integrated at two critical points on the motorcycle:

  • Windscreen: The windscreen is critical in optimising airflow over the rider's helmet. As the F99 accelerates to its top speed of 265kmph, it creates a barrier of high-velocity air molecules, effectively reducing drag.

  • Front Cowl Ducts: These two front cowl ducts effectively channel fresh air to the motor. The motor compresses and releases this air via vanes, increasing aerodynamic efficiency even further.

The F99 also introduces the ‘Air-Blade,’ a segment of the side panel or side fairing that adapts to lean angles during cornering. This real-time electronically actuated system increases downforce, ensuring optimal performance when taking sharp turns on the motorcycle.

Ultraviolette F99 performance

The Ultraviolette F99 Factory Racing Platform gets a 400V battery architecture (the F77 in comparison gets a 60V architecture). The F99 also features an air-cooled battery powering a liquid-cooled motor that produces a 120bhp of power. This power enables the F99 to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 3 seconds. The electric motorcycle has an aero drag coefficient of 0.45. The target range is a full race distance at Chennai or any other track. In comparison, the Auto Expo iteration of the Ultraviolette F99 produced only 65bhp of power and maxed out at 200kmph top speed.

Ultraviolette F99 launch

The Ultraviolette F99 is set to hit the market in 2025 and we can’t wait to get our hands on one! Because of the carbonfibre parts, high-end brakes, and suspension, Ultraviolette estimates that this motorcycle will cost three times as much as the Ultraviolette F77. However, how much of the hardware makes it to the production-spec model remains unknown.

International-spec Ultraviolette F77 unveiled

In other news, Ultraviolette Automotive has launched the F77 electric motorcycle in the European market, with prices ranging from 9,000 to 11,000 euros (roughly Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9.19 lakh). The registration process for European customers will begin on November 15, 2023. Notably, the European F77 will have performance specs similar to the F77 Recon variant available in India, which has a motor powered by a 10.3 kWh battery pack and produces 40bhp and 100Nm of torque. As a result, the range is estimated to be around 307km.
