Nissan Magnite compact SUV teased ahead of July 16 global unveil

News Desk

Nissan India today showcased a glimpse of its upcoming compact SUV concept, the Magnite. The images only reveal a portion of the front end and the Japanese brand’s compact SUV will be fully unveiled on July 16.

The images released showcase the new SUV’s sleek LED headlamps, somewhat reminiscent of what’s offered on the Kicks. They certainly look a lot more futuristic thanks to the honeycomb pattern of the LEDs. That said, we can also see machine cut alloys, flared wheel arches, a large radiator grille and prominent LED DRLs.

Nissan claims that the Magnite builds on popular global models such as the Patrol, Pathfinder, Armada, X-Trail, Juke, Qashqai and Kicks. The SUV is likely to be powered by the Renault-Nissan alliance’s 1-litre turbo petrol engine (showcased at the Auto Expo 2020) that will also power the Renault Triber in the coming months. The TCe 100 three cylinder motor makes 98bhp and 160Nm of torque. These are the global power figures and Nissan India might offer it in India in a different state of tune. This engine already does duty in the Nissan Micra and the Renault Clio, both sold internationally.

The compact SUV is scheduled to be introduced in the second half of FY 2020-21 in India and will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon among others.
