Mini Countryman facelift unveiled

The Countryman now gets a new powertrain along with subtle cosmetic update

Mini unveiled the facelifted version of the Countryman. The refreshed Countryman now not only gets cosmetic updates but also receives more goodies inside the cabin.

On the outside, the Countryman now gets a revised grille. It also gets full-LED headlamps with DRLs whereas the LED taillamps draw inspiration from the Union Jack

The Countryman is being offered with four different powertrains.

Under the hood, the Countryman is being offered with four different powertrains, internationally. The Countryman Cooper is the base version that is available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which churns out 132bhp of power and is paired to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT and is available with a front-wheel-drive as standard with the option of an AWD as well. The Countryman Cooper SD gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 187bhp of power in the SD. The SD version is paired either to a six-speed manual, seven-speed DCT or an eight-speed Steptronic transmission can be availed in replacement to the seven-speed DCT. A plug-in hybrid SE version is also available with an all-wheel electric drivetrain that is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that works in conjunction with a 9.6kWh lithium-ion battery that produces 216bhp of total output. The hybrid version is offered in a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Countryman gets a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster with piano black interiors.

On the inside, the Countryman gets a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster with piano black interiors. The centrally placed 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now powered with Connected Media and Connected Navigation Plus options.

The Countryman is expected to be offered with a petrol powertrain only when it comes to India. It has no direct rivals but the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40 come close when it comes to the pricing.
