The Gogoro CrossOver e-scooter has been unveiled as the brand's first e-scooter for India. It features swappable batteries and an extensive storage system. It will initially be sold to businesses only, but is likely to offer consumers increased versatility over its rivals when it is launched in 2024.

The Gogoro CrossOver features 26 locking points for mounting cargo.

Powertrain and chassis

The Gogoro CrossOver will be launched in three variants, the CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S. The brand hasn't revealed full specs of any of the scooters yet but they revealed that the GX250 is powered by a 2.5kWh battery that drives the rear wheel through a direct drive motor. Top speed is claimed to be over 60kmph and range is a claimed 111km. The '50' comes with a 5.0kWh battery and the top-of-the-range 'S' variant comes with a 6.4kWh battery. The chassis is optimised for all-terrain use and features increased rigidity, alongside a ground clearance of 176mm. The design of the frame is claimed to be optimised for increasing suspension durability when carrying heavy loads.

Battery swapping and cargo

The CrossOver comes with swappable batteries that reduce turnaround times between refuelling, thereby allowing riders longer range on the fly. It also features four cargo areas over the headlight, in the footwell, behind the seat, and on the side of the vehicle. A mounting point expansion system includes 26 locking points, to which storage accessories can be attached. To further increase storage space, the pillion seat can be flipped up or removed.

The CrossOver will be made in India, and sold initially through a B2B (business-to-business) model in Delhi and Goa, with Mumbai and Pune rollouts scheduled in the first half of 2024. Consumer availability will begin in the second quarter of 2024. The vehicle has been designed as a last-mile delivery solution for businesses and gig-economy workers, with an emphasis on seating space, all-terrain riding, and storage space.
