Tata Motors flagship SUV- named Gravitas, set for launch in February 2020

The Gravitas is based on the Omega platform that was derived from the Land Rover Discovery.

Tata Motor has just teased the 7-seated iteration of the Harrier SUV and have named it the “Gravitas”. It is expected to be launched in Fenil 2020 at the AutoExpo in Delhi. The Gravitas uses the same OMEGARC platform that is based on. The D8 platform from the Jaguar and Land Rover family

Announcing the name of this new SUV, Mr. Mayank Pareek - President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “We are elated to reveal the name of our latest SUV offering– the Tata GRAVITAS. With this, we are excited to offer to our customers, yet another state-of-the-art product. The GRAVITAS will up the ante in terms of luxury and performance and we are excited to launch this product to customers in February 2020. We are confident that the GRAVITAS will inspire and lead as a product among customers and industry alike.”

The new Tata Gravitas will get the same 2.0-litre, 4-Cylinder diesel engine and will come with a slightly higher power output. The new addition to the Gravitas will be the addition of an 6-Speed automatic gearbox that will be sourced from Hyundai.

The Gravitas will go head on against the Mahindra XUV 500 and will also get some competition from the 7-Seater MG Hector that will be launched soon.
