MG Motor India partnered with state-owned oil retailer Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) to establish public charging stations across India. HPCL's widespread network across India shall boost the country's much-needed charging infrastructure. MG and HPCL will collaborate to install 50kW/60kW DC fast chargers across the significant corridors of India. This shall undoubtedly provide ease to EV consumers and attract new EV car buyers - as it will add the convenience of long-distance touring along intercity commutes. A few months ago, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), the electric car-making arm of Tata Motors, signed a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with (HPCL) to establish public charging stations across India. The chargers will be compatible with the CCS-2 charging standard, which could also be used by cars of other brands.

As part of our partnership, HPCL will play a crucial role in the expansion of EV charging infrastructure. They aim to install 5000 electric vehicle charging stations by December 2024 and will be responsible for analyzing charger usage and strategically expanding the network among their 22000+ fuel stations across India. The public-mode charging station, accessible via the MyMG app and discoverable on the HPCL network discovery tool.

MG has also collaborated with BPCL and Jio-BP to establish charging stations at various touch points across India. The brand also partnered with Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility to set up CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships. These chargers will be compatible with the CCS-2 charging standard, ensuring that they can be used by cars of other brands as well. Apart from these collaborations, MG has joined hands with Exicom, Tata Power, ATTERO, UMICORE, TES AMM SUPER and LOHUM for the second-life and recycling of EV batteries. The brand has also signed an MoU with the subsidiaries of the Epsilon Group, including Power EV for charging solutions and Lithium-ion recycling.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, MG Motor India, said, "The key to a successful transition to electric mobility is a robust EV ecosystem. As an early mover in the EV space, MG has been at the forefront of the development of a strong EV ecosystem. Along with our ecosystem partners, we are working to create a vast network of EV charging stations, in addition to battery recycling & battery second life solutions for end-to-end sustainability of electric vehicles. Our partnership with HPCL is yet another step to expanding the EV charging infrastructure in India to energize and enhance customer confidence in EVs. HPCL's vast network and significant presence in India will ensure that existing and prospective EV users across the country have convenient access to our charging solutions."

As of today, Tata Power is one of the leading public charging solution providers in India. However, to boost the electric vehicles adoption in India more and more charging stations are needed. MG Motors’ partnering with the HPCL shall certainly enhance India’s electric vehicle infrastructure.
