It's the first day of Royal Enfield Rider Mania 2019 and the brand has announced the launch of Slide School, a flat-track training academy. Though the dates and venues are yet to be announced, the maiden round will be held in Bengaluru, in collaboration with Big Rock MotoPark.

Right tool for the job

If you are unfamiliar with flat-tracking, it is a mud track motorsport on an oval track. Racers go anti-clockwise around the track. The motorcycles are stripped off useless parts which includes the front brake in this case. So, Royal Enfield along with Big Rock and S&S Cycles have built the perfect machine for the job.

The American Job
S&S Cycles is an American company excelling in the American Flat-track scene. They have modified the Himalayan.

These bikes use 18-inch rims at both ends, a high-mounted exhaust, a different sprocket set from S&S and carbonfibre seat unit. There were no modifications made to the frame and suspension. Being void of all the unnecessary bits, the bike tips the scales at 164kg approx. That's almost 30kgs lighter than the standard one.

Royal Enfield is all set to have a demo ride tomorrow at Rider Mania so watch this space for more details of the bike. The exact dates and venue is yet to be decided
