Renault India has unveiled a new variant of the Duster with mild but sporty cosmetic updates, both inside-out and a brand new BS6-compliant 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor. The Duster will continue to be available with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. However, it is expected to only be available with a manual transmissions and in lower trim levels. The 1.5-litre diesel engine will be discontinued in the BS6 era.

The new 1.3-litre TCe1 130 motor in the Duster will make 153bhp of power and 250Nm of torque and buyers will have the option of choosing between a CVT and a six-speed manual to send all that power and torque to the front wheels. The same engine will power the Renault Captur and will also be expected in the Nissan Kicks. In the current state of tune, it will be the most powerful in its segment – one thet is hugely competitive with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. Renault has also showcased a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor which may debut in the Triber.

Apart from the minor cosmetic updates like the red accents on the grille, fog lamp and tailgate embellishments, the Duster will also get a new remote which will let you pre-cool the cabin. The new engine is expected to be launched some time this year.
