Aston Martin wowed the crowd at the 89th Geneva Motor Show with not one, not two, but three world debuts – the show-stopping AM RB-003, the Lagonda All-Terrain and last but not the least, the Vanquish Vision Concept. The Vanquish Vision concept is the fourth model in Aston Martin’s mid-engined series following Aston Martin Valkyrie, Valkyrie AMR Pro and AM-RB 003. The car is scheduled to enter series production in 2022 and is set to take the game to McLaren 720S and Ferrari F8 Tributo.
The new mid-engined supercar will be powered by the same twin-turbo V6 that will be found in the incoming AM-RB 003, sans the hybrid tech. Underpinning the Vanquish will be a bonded aluminium chassis, similar to the DB and Vantage models. Expect more space and interior refinement with the aluminium chassis along with the added benefit of reduced costs. Aero components like ground-hugging grille and splitter remain, just like other mid-engined serious supercars. The concept also sports a traditional ducktail rear spoiler. Though there are lots of active and aggressive aero components, the all-new aluminium chassis is will change the cabin and tech layout, compared to the carbonfibre AM RB-003.
“Firstly, what a pleasure to revive the Vanquish name. Synonymous with our series production flagships, it felt entirely appropriate to attach it to such a significant car. The Vanquish Vision Concept marks another pivotal moment in Aston Martin’s history, and another critical step in delivering the Second Century Plan. Our first series production rear mid-engined supercar will be a transformational moment for the brand, for it is the car that will propel Aston Martin into a sector of the market traditionally seen as the heartland of luxury sports cars.”
This new breed of mid-engined supercar is expected to catapult Aston Martin to the big leagues, into Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren territory, helping it to grow as a profitable luxury and sports car manufacturer in the near future.
