Ferrari has launched the 812 Superfast in India at Rs. 5.20 crore(ex-showroom). The Ferrari 812 Superfast replaces the F12 Berlinetta, a fairly popular with Ferrari customers in the country. The Ferrari 812 Superfast, boasts of a naturally aspirated V12 engine making 789bhp of power and 718Nm of peak torque powering the rear wheels. Ferrari claims the 812 can race from 0 to 100kmph in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 340kmph.
The 812 Superfast is a rather striking car and is an evolution of the F12 Berlinetta when it comes to design. The car features new aggressive headlamps with slits for cooling the engine. The 812 features numerous cuts, swoops and slashes on its bodywork making it the most aero-efficient V12 Ferrari sportscar ever. The 812 Superfast is available in a variety of colours including a range of reds along with hues like blue and silver.
The mid-front mounted V12 motor in the 812 superfast is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch F1 transmission with an E-differential. Ferrari says the new gearbox upshifts 30 per cent faster and downshifts 40 per cent faster than the previous iteration gearbox. The 812 is also the first Ferrari to get Electronic Power Steering (EPS) which Ferrari claims allows for addition of a new generation of vehicle controls .The Ferrari 812 mechanically is much more evolved as compared to the F12 Berlinetta. It features fifth generation ‘Side Slip Control’. The Ferrari 812 Superfast also gets rear wheel steering. Ferrari has introduced the Ferrari Peak Performance (FPP) and Ferrari Power Oversteer (FPO) system. FPP informs the driver that the car is at the limit of its grip in a corner by an increase in steering torque. FPO similarly comes into effect when coming out of corners. It increases steering torque and hence lets the driver adjust accordingly if there is any oversteer.
