Heat in the city

It’s only ten days since Monaco ePrix but we’re already in Berlin for rounds 7 and 8 of the 2022 FIA ABB Formula E World Championship. The 2022 Shell Recharge Berlin E-Prix promises to be another exciting event… but it’s not an easy place for teams to get it all right and that’s what’s needed for success here.

The biggest challenge for teams here is tyre management. The abrasive surface of the Berlin Templehof track can lead tyres to overheat quickly and the performance window is narrowed. This adds an extra pressure to qualifying, which is more important this season than ever due to the new Duels format.

The other challenge, that might cause issues if the ambient temperatures are above 24 degrees, is batteries overheating. It’s not something teams have had to deal with before but it’s something we are preparing to manage. If it’s not an issue in Berlin, then expect it to be in Jakarta later this month.

Keep an eye on the Mahindra Racing social channels to follow our performance over the weekend and to see exclusive and behind the scenes content. You can also Fanboost me, which gives me an extra boost of power during the race. You can find out all the information on how to do this at the Formula E website here.
